This is a really good example of why I’m so excited about using our randomized machine: there is no “perfect” swing. There is a pattern that is adjustable and that leads to maximum barrels, and that is what will play in-game.
Donaldson is able to make this adjustment because of the way he sets himself up to get on plane, and be in the zone for a long time.
Hitting variable pitching = challenging this pattern. The tee, front toss, and bp, while useful in their own right, will not challenge your pattern. While good for building the pattern, you need variation as you look to solidify that pattern into one that’ll play on the diamond.
